Pre-purchase and sport examination
Clinical examination and, by agreement, diagnostic imaging tailored to the purpose of the examination. At the clinic or on location.
A pre-purchase examination gives the buyer an independent and documented picture of a horse’s health at the time of the examination, in relation to its intended use. The imaging required is agreed beforehand, according to the purpose of the examination. Sport examinations are also carried out.
An examination is a snapshot: it describes the findings on the day and gives no guarantee about future health or performance.
The buyer is welcome to attend; the findings are then discussed straight away.
The clinical examination includes a general examination (heart, lungs, eyes and skin), assessment at rest and in motion, and flexion tests. The passport and microchip are checked. On request, a blood sample can be taken, for example to screen for medication.
A sport examination assesses a horse’s health and fitness for work, for example before the start of a competition season. Before the examination starts, we discuss your expectations of the examination and your sporting goals.
