Lameness examination

As a first or second opinion, with or without treatment.

The examination starts with the history: the horse’s use, the course of the problem and previous treatments. This is followed by a clinical examination at rest and in motion, in hand and on the lunge, on hard and soft surfaces, with flexion tests.

Diagnostic analgesia involves the targeted local anaesthesia of nerves or joints. This narrows down step by step where the pain originates. Only then is targeted imaging of that region performed.

For a second opinion, previous findings and images are reassessed. Further diagnostics are only performed when they add value.
