About Camille

About Camille

Camille Buyck is an equine veterinary surgeon who graduated from Ghent University in 2020.

She trained in surgery at two referral hospitals. She worked for two years at Newmarket Equine Hospital in the United Kingdom, then completed three years of specialist training in equine surgery at the Centre Hospitalier Vétérinaire Équin de Livet in France.

During this training she worked intensively with sport horses, Thoroughbreds and trotters. She gained experience with a high and varied caseload, under the daily supervision of specialist surgeons.

The world of Thoroughbreds, trotters and their intensive breeding introduced her to a different way of working, in which speed of action, precision and efficient management are central.

One principle is central: good surgery starts before the operation. With enough time for examination, a correct diagnosis and an honest conversation about expectations, risks, alternatives and costs.

Camille works closely with the horse’s own vet. Not as a replacement, but as a specialist complement when further diagnostics, surgery or orthopaedic expertise are needed.

Eventing

Background in eventing.

Her background as an event rider also shapes her approach and her affinity with sport horses. She understands not only the medical side of an injury, but also the importance of well-planned rehabilitation for a lasting return to competition.

Approach

Way of working.

  1. Time for examination

Consultations are scheduled with ample time, so that findings can be assessed carefully.

  2. A correct diagnosis

Existing images are taken into account; further diagnostics are only performed when they add value.

  3. An honest conversation

About expectations, risks, alternatives and costs, before every procedure.

  4. Together with your vet

As a specialist complement; findings, treatment and aftercare are clearly coordinated.
